Black baton with metal fittings; conical body made of dark, French-polished wood; conical grip fitting with a rounded top and an inscription engraved on the side; metal ring at 1/3 of the length; tip fitting decorated with a double stripe; all metal components are plain. This commemorative baton was presented to the conductor B. Evans by the musical ensemble Gobeithlu (Hope) in September 1893; The name Caersalem Newydd (New Jerusalem) refers to the Book of Revelations and possibly denotes a chapel built near Swansea, Wales.
