Black, two-piece baton, screwed together at half-way point, with an internal metal connector; conical body made of dark wood; plain silver fittings on the grip, tip, and screw; to hide the screw, a gilded (?) silver ring was attached with an impressed floral motif; inscription engraved on the grip fitting. Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1931; silversmith’s mark: J·H on a rhomboid plate. As per inscription, the baton was presented to J.P. Kirkland from St. Margaret’s Choir in Fairlie, Scotland, in 1934.
