ebony baton with ivory tips; wider grip decorated with numerous round mother of pearl fittings and a broad ivory ring with a hand-written inscription in blackened letters; grip finished with an encrusted tip in the form of a cross made of mother of pearl, on round black background; behind the grip, at about 1/3 of the length, the body narrows towards a rounded ivory tip. The baton is similar to, albeit more decorative than, baton JSW 53 from the same collection. As per inscription, the baton belonged to I.F. Goadby of Cardiff, who received its from his choir in 1891.
