a white, conic ivory baton; the widest section (grip) decorated with carved grooves and palmettes, finished with a curve; the adjacent section of the baton is smooth, decorated with three rings engraved with silvered geometrical and floral pattern; the fitting at the top was decorated with a similar motif; the widest ring (i.e. the one next to the grip) contains an engraved inscription. The baton was inscribed with a dedication to the conductor from the singers of the Blair Lodge Glee Club, dated 3 April 1894
