black baton with a large silver grip and trapezoid sides; conical body made of dark wood coated with black varnish; silver grip in the shape of a truncated pyramid, whose two shorter sides are decorated with grooves and widen from the bottom up towards a flat rectangular tip with a decorative, inscriptionless frame; at approximately 1/3 of the length, a silver ring was attached by means of an inscription frame; the tip ends with a blunt silver fitting; all silver components are adorned with acanthus leaf engravings. According to the goldsmith’s mark, the baton was stamped in London in 1907; maker’s mark E·N (Ebenezer Newman & Co.) in a rectangular frame. The baton bears resemblance to baton JSW 27 from the same collection. As per commemorative inscription, the baton was presented to conductor F.S. Karn from the committee and choir of the London College of Music on 28 May 1908.
