Baton with an emblem of the United States Marine Corps, commonly referred to as the “Marines.” Black conical body made of French-polished wood, with blunt, plain silver fittings on both sides; convex Marines emblem attached to the top of the grip fitting, presenting the globe (Western hemisphere) with an anchor and an eagle holding a band in its beak (band missing; original inscription on the band reads “simper fidelis” – “always faithful”); hallmarks: on the grip fitting: STERLING; a strikingly similar baton with Marines symbols can be found in the same collection under inventory number JSW 7
