the core was made of fabric (wood or plastic) sealed with black lacquer; the tips were decorated with brass fittings – the wider tip (grip) was finished with a metal fitting that extends towards a bulb at the very end, while the upper tip has a sharply pointed fitting; in the mid-section, the baton was encrusted with mother of pearl in the shape of a Chinese dragon with its tail wrapped around the core of the baton; above the dragon, a metal ring was attached with a string ended with fringes.
