black baton with silver fittings; conical body made of black, French-wood; grip fitting slightly widening, with a plain, rounded tip, decorated with an impressed floral twig inscribed in triangular fields; at approximately 2/5 of the length, a metal fitting was attached with an engraved inscription, surrounded by two impressed, decorative rings; tip fitting adorned with a twig motif. Goldsmith’s marks: STERLING on the central fitting. As per inscription ,the baton was a gift to mayor [!] D.A. Brown by the Kansas City Musicians Association on 1 November 1910
