Dark brown wood baton with a metal ring; conical body made of dark wood; flat wooden tips; on the grip, a hole drilled from the side and through the tip, possibly to thread a string; at 2/5 of the length, a silvered metal ring was added with an inscription. As per inscription, the baton was a token of appreciation presented to J.F. Crooks, possibly by the members of the Jarrow Baptist Choir on 5 May 1882
